Dunlop Riders Swept All Three Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championships and Race Podiums!

RANDO CUCAMONGE, CA – May 14, 2024 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – The 2024 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship season concluded in Salt Lake City, marking another monumental achievement for Dunlop’s Supercross racing program. For the fifteenth consecutive season, Dunlop riders not only swept all three championships and race podiums but also amassed a staggering 181 SX and MX Championships, a feat unmatched by any other company.

In the 450SX class, the varied talent pool of experienced and young riders made for some great racing throughout the season! Team Honda HRC’s and last year’s 250SX West Coast champion, Jett Lawrence, showed he was the rider to beat, winning the first round in Anaheim and seven more throughout the season, proving A1 wasn’t a fluke. In all, there were six different 450SX winners, including Monster Energy Star Yamaha’s Eli Tomac, teammate Cooper Webb, Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki’s Ken Roczen, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Aaron Plessinger, and 2023 450SX champion Chase Sexton. Going into the season’s final race, Jett Lawrence had to finish seventeenth or better to take home the title. Jett played it safe in the main, finishing seventh in the main to take his first Monster Energy AMA 450 Supercross Championship!

For the 2024 season, Dunlop continued their support by retaining and even adding additional teams to their Dunlop Family of support. Overall, in the premier 450SX class, Dunlop riders finished in the top fourteen positions, once again proving their Dunlop Domination.

The points leader was never guaranteed in the 250SX East and West championships. During the season, seven different points leaders raced with the red number plates, showing just how competitive the smaller bore series really is. It all came down to the final round and east/west showdown, where Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle needed to finish eleventh or better for the East. At the same time, it was a winner-take-all situation between Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s RJ Hampshire, who were tied in points for the West. Vialle struggled during the day, barely qualifying for the main, but put it together when it counted, finishing eighth on the night and taking home his first 250SX championship in only two years being stateside!

Meanwhile, all eyes were on Hampshire and Kitchen, with Hampshire getting out in front of his rival early on and pushing towards the front. Kitchen wasn’t too far behind, but he couldn’t gain enough time on the deteriorating track. RJ caught up to the leader, Monster Energy Star Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan, but settled for second with a safe five-second gap over Levi. RJ Hampshire took home a very well-deserved and emotional first Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250 Championship!
