The former world No. 4 withdrew from the ASB Classic in Auckland citing “personal reasons” and was later confirmed to miss the Australian Open for a second straight year.
Andreescu planned to kick off her 2025 season at the Mérida Open, a WTA 500 tournament in Mexico at the end of February.

The Canadian shocked the tennis world in 2019 when she defeated Serena Williams in straight sets to win her first Grand Slam title in Flushing Meadows. Now 24, Andreescu has dealt with numerous physical and mental health struggles in the five years since lifting the US Open trophy, and is currently ranked outside the WTA’s Top 100.
Andreescu has not announced which clay-court tournament she will compete at, but the timeline rules her out for at least the next six weeks.
