Opening weekend of the 2025 baseball season is in the books. Let’s go through my Power 10 rankings, which haven’t changed because 1. It’s early, and 2. It’s baseball.

1. Texas A&M
Texas AM is on top after a couple of run rules as they swept the series against Elon. Jace Laviolette already homered three times and Kaeden Kent just seems to really like grand slams.
2. Virginia
Virginia, I kept at two despite the loss to Michigan. It’s baseball, and it lost by a run in the 11th inning. Plus, keeping in mind it was a tougher opponent than some teams faced below.
3. LSU
LSU swept Purdue Fort Wayne and put on a clinic, winning 14-0 nothing in the first game of the series.

4. Tennessee
Tennessee swept Hofstra with a similar story, putting up 15, 18, then 13 runs in the three wins.
5. Arkansas
Arkansas, Oregon State, North Carolina and FSU all swept opening weekend and stay put in the rankings. Brent Iredale started off his season at Arkansas in a big way with two monster homers and seven RBIs already.
6. Oregon State
Oregon State got the bats going early and often, and Aiva Arquette is off to a great start.
7. North Carolina
UNC impressed in a sweep over Texas Tech, and found ways to score runs in a lot of different ways.
8. Florida State
FSU was dominant over JMU. Jamie Arnold threw a one-hitter in a six-inning shutout performance for his season debut.
9. Georgia
For the last two, I have Georgia at nine, keeping them beneath FSU from preseason as it notched a loss to UNCW, but the Seahawks’ starter was impressive. The Bulldogs went 3-1 on the weekend, and Devin Obee already has 2 homers.
10. Florida
Finally, Florida stays put at 10 after a dominating sweep and an impressive outing for Liam Peterson, who threw six innings of shutout ball with 2 hits allowed on Friday.
