Amanda Anisimova became the first American player in 23 years to clinch a WTA title in Doha, after winning a rain-interrupted final against big-hitting Jelena Ostapenko, 6-4, 6-3.
The 23-year-old defeated giant-slayer Ekaterina Alexandrova, Paula Badosa and Victoria Azarenka on the way to the Qatar Total Energies Open final.

With the victory, Anisimova claimed the biggest title of her career, and will be assured of a Top 20 debut when the new WTA rankings are released on Monday.
