NEW YORK—We’ve seen some truly out-of-this-world watches grace the courts at this year’s US Open, but newly crowned champion Aryna Sabalenka may have served up the most stunning one for last.
Last year’s runner up claimed a long-awaited and emotional victory on Saturday evening, as she took down No. 6 seed Jessica Pegula in the women’s final to win her first US Open title, and a third Grand Slam overall.

“So many things was going through my mind,” said Sabalenka, who fell on her back and covered her face after the 7-5, 7-5 win.
“I was just so proud of myself and proud of my team that no matter what, we were able to come back stronger and come back with better tennis. And now finally we are having this beautiful trophy.
“I don’t know how to describe that feeling. You’re crying, you’re laughing, you’re just, you know, you feel all these emotions at the same time. That’s the best feeling.”
