Quarterfinalist at Wimbledon back in 2018, Kasatkina was ruthless against Miyazaki, who had thrilled the home crowd by winning her first-ever main-draw match at the All England Club earlier this week against Tamara Korpatsch, defeating Harmony Tan’s former doubles partner, 6-2, 6-1 to match her best Grand Slam result.
On court for less than an hour, Kasatkina lost just three points behind her first serve all match and didn’t face a break point, striking a clean 10 winners to seven unforced errors while an out-of-sorts Miyazaki struck a whopping 31 unforced errors—for reference, a single set is comprised of at least 24 points.
The 6-0, 6-0 scoreline is her first on the tour level, having last secured a double bagel back in 2015, when a then-18-year-old Kasatkina thumped Aminat Kushkhova at a $25K ITF Pro Circuit tournament in Minsk.
