Formula 1 Race Worn Helmets Offered at the Bonhams|Cars Miami Auction

MIAMI, FL – April 7, 2025 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Bonhams|Cars is set to showcase a remarkable collection of Formula 1® race-worn helmets and overalls during The Miami Auction, held during the FORMULA 1® CRYPTO.COM MIAMI GRAND PRIX 2025. This exclusive auction will feature rare memorabilia items from some of Formula 1’s greatest drivers, including six World Champions. Represented in the sale are legends such as Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly, Lewis Hamilton, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, and Damon Hill.The auction will take place live on the track at the Miami International Autodrome on Saturday evening, following the Qualifying race.

The lineup this year promises to captivate motorsport enthusiasts, following last year’s success when Michael Schumacher’s helmet sparked an intense bidding war and sold for over four times its estimate at $100,000 to a fan in the audience.

Highlights for the upcoming sale include:

• Michael Schumacher‘s 1991 used helmet by Shoei. Believed used during Schumacher’s early career racing karts and possibly for DTM in 1991, with sponsors stickers later applied to resemble Schumacher’s first Benetton season helmet, offered with the original karting visor, chips and marks from use. Estimate: $30,000 – 50,000.

• Charles Leclerc‘s 2020 Scuderia Ferrari F1 Turkish Grand Prix used helmet by Bell. The 2020 Turkish Grand Prix saw Charles Leclerc qualify 14th after a wet and delayed session. During Sunday’s race Charles thought his way through the grid to 3th place, on the final lap of the race he dived down the inside to try and claim 2nd place from Perez but ran wide, allowing Perez and teammate Vettel through, dropping him down to 4th. Estimate: $25,000 – 35,000.
  

• Lando Norris‘ 2023 McLaren F1 used helmet. Used during Bahrain testing and early rounds of the 2023 championship. Estimate: $20,000 – 30,000.
  

• Pierre Gasly’s 2021 Alpha Tauri United States Grand Prix used helmet by Bell. Pierre Gasly qualified in 9th position just behind Lando Norris. On Sunday’s race he moved up a starting place due to Bottas receiving a grid penalty, however on lap 14 Gasly retired with suspension damage. Estimate: $15,000 – 25,000.

The memorabilia items will be on display at the Bonhams|Cars preview at the Miami International Autodrome and in various fan zones throughout the race weekend, offering fans and collectors a chance to admire these rare pieces of Formula 1 history. In addition to the live auction, an online sale of additional memorabilia will run concurrently from April 28 – May 12, featuring race-worn helmets, car bodywork, signed programs, and more.
