India vs South Africa T20 World Cup 2024 Final Playing 11: India will take on South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown in Barbados. Both sides have been unbeaten in the tournament going into the game. While South Africa will play their first T20 World Cup final India will be playing their third (earlier in 2007 and 2014).
Rohit Sharma’s man has thrashed England in their semifinal in Guyana and looked well-rounded in all departments. With the bowling firing on all cylinders, any conditions in Barbados should not be a problem for the one-time champions. However, batting has blown hot and cold for India in the tournament which is something the Pace attack of South Africa might look to exploit.
The Proteas pace attack made a mockery of the high-flying Afghanistan batting lineup in Trinidad. Marco Jansen has set the tone with the new ball and Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje maintained the pressure later in the innings. However, similar to India South African batting too has looked a shadow itself despite the power-hitting resources in the side.
Here is the IND vs SA tip-off XI
India will be unchanged for the final game, however, these are the things India hopes will come good
Virat Kohli needs to deliver
The Indian talisman boasts an excellent record in T20 World Cups before this tournament. However, conditions in New York did not help his cause early on in this tournament and now he seems to be struggling to find the right approach on sluggish Carrebian wickets. However, the right-hander has time and again delivered sublime knocks on big games and Sunday’s game is set up for that.
Shivam Dube’s woes
Dube’s role in the side has been to whack the spinners in the middle overs on the slowish pitches in West Indies. But he too similar to Kohli has been going through a poor run of form. South Africa has Keshav Maharaj who has been in good form in the tournament so far for South Africa hence Dube in the middle overs would be expected to dominate the South African left-arm spinner.
Ottneil Bartman returns for South Africa
Aiden Markram has opted to use an extra spinner in Tabriz Shamshi in the semifinal. However, given the nature of the pitch in Barbados and Indian batters’ ability to play spin well Markram might be tempted to use Bartman. The seamer bowling at a sharp pace has been lethal in the powerplay and also has variations up his sleeve to use in the final overs to trouble the Indian batters.
