Katerina Siniakova, the only woman to win two Grand Slam doubles titles this year, has clinched the WTA’s year-end No. 1 doubles ranking.
It comes on the same day as Aryna Sabalenka, the only woman to win two Grand Slam singles titles this year, clinched year-end No. 1 in singles.
But while it’s a first No. 1 finish for Sabalenka, this is nothing new for Siniakova—it’s the fourth time in her career that she’s finished a season at No. 1 in doubles, having already done it in 2018, 2021 and 2022.
The Czech is the fourth woman to finish at No. 1 in doubles four or more times since official WTA doubles rankings began in 1984.
MOST YEAR-END DOUBLES NO. 1 FINISHES (since 1984):
5: Martina Navratilova [1984, 1986-1989]
4: Cara Black [2005, 2007-2009]
4: Liezel Huber [2007-2009, 2011]
4: Katerina Siniakova [2018, 2021-2022, 2024]
Three of Black and Huber’s four individual No. 1 finishes came as co-No. 1s, from 2007 to 2009. One of Siniakova’s individual No. 1 finishes came as co-No. 1, alongside countrywoman Barbora Krejcikova in 2018.
