Lucknow Super Giants saw their IPL 2024 playoffs chances suffer a damaging blow after they were handed a 10-wicket defeat by the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday.
Batting first, LSG managed to only score 165/4 which the SRH opening pair of Travis Head (who got his half century in just 16 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (who got his half century in 19 deliveries) chased down inside 10 overs. After the game ended, LSG captain KL Rahul admitted to being lost for words.
But there was one incident which caught everyone’s attention after the game ended.
After the game ended, cameras caught a slice of interaction between LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka and Indian cricketer KL Rahul, who is also the captain of the LSG franchise. While not much is known of what was being said between the two, Goenka looked animated while Rahul coolly heard him out.
While the scene was playing out, experts in the studio for the official broadcaster speculated on what the world was witnessing.
“It’s an owner that is obviously very passionate about his team. He’s watched his team take an absolute drubbing. The emotions are all there. But you always feel these conversations should be happening behind closed doors. There are so many cameras around the stadium and they miss nothing. You know KL Rahul is now gonna go to press conferences and other things and potentially explain what’s been discussed here,” an expert can be heard saying on Jio Cinema.
“He has done well to keep his cool here. I think you are bang on,” former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris added.
“KL has done well, hasn’t he? To keep his cool here” (Commentators)
It’s sad to see him like this 💔 #KLRahul

KL Rahul lost for words
After the match ended, Rahul admitted to being “lost for words” by SRH’s batting. Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved their target of 166 in 9.4 overs — with 62 balls remaining. This is now the biggest such margin in a chase of 150-plus runs in T20 cricket.
“I am lost for words. We have watched that kind of batting on tv. But this is unreal batting. Everything seemed to find the middle of the bat. Kudos to their skills. They have worked hard on their six hitting skills. They didn’t give us a chance to know what the pitch played in the second innings.
“Was hard to stop them as they teed off from ball one. Once you are on the losing side, there are questions marks on the decisions taken. We were 40-50 runs short. When we lost wickets in the powerplay, we couldn’t get any momentum. Ayush and Nicky batted well to get us to 166. But even if we would have got 240, they could have chased it as well,” Rahul said after the match.
