Garbiñe Muguruza might’ve been a modern-day tennis champion, but the recently-retired former world No. 1 decided to sport a vintage look for her latest personal milestone: her Oct. 5 wedding to her partner of three years, Arthur Borges.
Borges and Muguruza tied the knot in Marbella last Saturday in an intimate ceremony at the Finca La Concepción event space in front of family and friends, an exclusive guest list that included her former doubles partner and Billie Jean King Cup teammate Carla Suarez Navarro and coach Conchita Martinez, after dating for more than three years.
Muguruza first met the businessman and model by chance in New York, when she was competing at the 2021 US Open. Strolling around the city on her day off, Borges, a tennis fan, recognized her on the street and stopped to wish her luck. That was that, and the couple went public with their romance later that year during Muguruza’s run to the title at the season-ending WTA Finals.

“I knew I would marry him even before he asked me,” Muguruza told Spanish-language publication *¡Hola!* this week in an exclusive interview about their wedding, describing their romance as a “total movie.”
“When we met, it was love at first sight and we realized very quickly that we were an ideal couple.”
